Student Portal (SharePoint)

1. What is SharePoint?

SharePoint, also known as the student portal is a Microsoft web based application that allows users to store documents. As long as the student signs in, the documents can be accessed from any computer. Students have 100 MB of storage.

Teachers can also create class sites where they can post items to a calendar, post assignments, post messages, etc. If the teacher wishes students to do so, students can upload assignments directly to the class site.

Teachers also have 500 MB of storage on their personal SharePoint site. Students cannot see teacher sites, but teachers can see items in the student' sites.

2. How do I get to SharePoint?

If you are at school, Inside the Den, the Larkspur Middle School Intranet site, is set as the default home page. When you click on Internet Explorer, you will go to the Inside the Den home page. You should see your name under the photo of the lions on the right side of the page. This is a link to your personal site where you can add calendar events, notes, documents, etc.

The easiest way is to access Inside the Den from home is to go to www.larkspurms.vbschools.com and click on the Inside the Den link on the left side of the page. Once you do that, a login screen will appear. All students have a password and must use this password to access the student portal. It is the responsibility of the student to share the password with his/her parents. If the student forgets the password, any teacher can reset it.

Students must type:
vbstudents\user ID
password
Student Login

Teachers must type:
vbschools\user ID
password
Teacher Login

If you do not see this box, turn off your pop-up blocker. Google toolbar has its own.

Make sure you type the backslash key (\) and not the forward slash key (/).
If it asks for a domain, type in VBSCHOOLS.

3. Where can I get help on SharePoint?

There are teacher and student help documents on the portal.
Teachers: http://studentportal.vbschools.com/TeacherInfo/default.aspx
Students:
http://studentportal.vbschools.com/StudentInfo/default.aspx
You will be asked to authenticate. (See #2 above.)

4. If I still cannot log on to the portal, what can I do?
