Mr. Daniel Keever started with Virginia Beach City Public Schools in 1982…as a 5th grade student at Thoroughgood Elementary School. He graduated from Bayside High and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel majoring in Political Science and History. In 1994 he started his career in education as a security assistant at Ocean Lakes High School. During his time at Ocean Lakes, Mr. Keever taught Social Studies, coached soccer, served as the Student Council Adviser, and coordinated the Ocean Lakes Leadership Workshop. From 2001-2002, he served as the Chairperson for the NASSP/NASC National Conference hosted by VBCPS and Ocean Lakes HS. From 2002 - 2006, Mr. Keever shifted roles and began work in the Office of Organizational Development, the Office of Student Leadership, and the Office of the Superintendent. In 2006 Mr. Keever began working at Tallwood High School as Assistant Principal and he started course work for a PhD in Educational Leadership through Old Dominion University. In July of 2009, Mr. Keever became Principal at Larkspur Middle School. Mr. Keever and his family are avid sports fan and they love to watch the Tar Heels whenever possible!

Kim Dailey has been an assistant principal for 5 years at Larkspur Middle. Prior to coming to Larkspur, she was an assistant principal at Salem Middle. Mrs. Dailey was a special education teacher and is a native of Virginia Beach. She enjoys traveling and going to the movies.

Andra Morris has been an assistant principal at Larkspur Middle for 5 years. Before coming to Larkspur Middle, she taught choral music for 12 years at Bayside Middle and in Florida. Ms. Morris is a native Floridian who enjoys basketball and football especially when her boys are involved.

Mr. Sarmiento joined the administrative team for the start of the 2009 school year. He began his administrative career as an Administrative Assistant at Virginia Beach Middle School. After one year he was appointed as an Assistant Principal at Great Neck Middle School where he served for four years. Prior to his administrative positions, Mr. Sarmiento taught 5th grade for four years at Strawbridge Elementary School. He then opened Corporate Landing Middle School and taught 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies for seven years. He also coached wrestling at Corporate Landing. Mr. Sarmiento retired from the Navy in 1992

Patricia Menard has been the Guidance Department Chairperson at Larkspur Middle School for the past 10 years. Prior to that she was a guidance counselor at middle schools and elementary schools in Virginia Beach and also taught elementary school in Virginia Beach and New York State. A native of New York State, she loves spending time with family and friends.

Billie Rawls has most recently taught (4th and 5th Grade Inclusion) at Three Oaks ES where she has served from 2005 through 2009. Prior to that time, Ms. Rawls worked at Princess Anne ES (4th Grade Language Arts Inclusion) and one of Larkspur’s feeder schools – White Oaks ES (4th and 5th Grade Inclusion). Ms. Rawls has a strong background in data analysis and these skills have been well utilized as she has worked as the School Improvement Coordinator at Three Oaks for the last several years. In addition, she has worked with the Three Oaks Administrative Team to develop their school’s Plan for Continuous Improvement. We are fortunate that Billie was looking for a new challenge and ready to work on data analysis and test coordination on a full-time basis.

Juliana Spurgeon is the Student Activities Coordinator at Larkspur Middle School, a position she has held for the past 10 years. As the SAC, she oversees all interscholastic and intramural sport programs as well as all academic teams and extracurricular activities. Prior to coming to Larkspur, Julie taught health and physical education for 12 years at the high school and middle school levels. She was born and raised in Virginia Beach and is a die-hard Redskins fan.
